Weeks 30 & 31

So, I know it's a little late but it's been a really busy 2 weeks.  Last week we had a super lot going on.  Monday was our lady's Christmas Tea at church.  Tuesday Brett had a repair turn.  Wednesday we had our caregroup Christmas party.  Thursday was my brother Ian's and Brett's mom's birthday.  Friday I had signed up to take dinner to a friend down the street who just had a baby.  Saturday we had our 8 hour childbirth class.  Sunday we had church and then went to the Fox and Hound to watch the Steeler game.  Then we decorated our Christmas tree.  Monday I spent most of the day wrapping presents.  Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment with my regular doctor, that I can't stand.  Then I had worship team practice later last night.  And finally this morning I had a midwife appointment.  I told you it was busy.

So, some highlights:  the Christmas tea and our Christmas party were a lot of fun.  I got to hang out with some people I don't usually get to hang out with.  I also baked 3 dozen cookies for the tea and an oreo cheesecake for the Christmas party.  I still have a few cookies left over from the tea.  There's coffee in them, so I haven't been eating them as my bedtime snack, or they would have been gone last week.

Our childbirth class went well.  It was really long, but I feel a little more prepared for the whole birth process now, which is good.  I can't say I learned much, but practicing some breathing and positions for natural pain relief was really helpful.  Brett did really well too.  He didn't complain or freak out or anything, so that was awesome.  Hopefully he feels a little better about being my coach during labor now.

Our Christmas tree looks a little sad this year.  We got a real tree, which I love, and it's very nice, and smells incredible.  We had a lot less stuff than I thought we had though.  When we lived in the apartment it was so small we had a little fake tree that sat on our table, so we didn't have anything except stuff we inherited from Brett's granny.  We only have 1 strand of lights for the tree, and only plain round bulbs and a star for the top.  I happened to scrounge up a little silver garland, but it's barely enough to go around the tree.  We also don't have a tree skirt.  So it looked a little sad, but now all the presents are around the bottom and you can't tell.  We'll have to go shopping after Christmas for some stuff for next year.  I also took some pictures of the gift wrapping I did for my crazy friend Katie, since she's completely obsessed with pinning gift wrap ideas on pinterest.  So, these are for you Mrs. Maurer.

My midwife appointment went well this morning.  Mr. Garrett is moving well.  He's growing right on schedule.  I'm measuring right where I should be, even though I look gigantic.  His little heart sounds wonderful.  It's music to my ears.  I have to do another ultrasound in a few weeks and I'm super excited to see him looking a lot more like a little people than a grey blob.  So, all is going well.

Belly Watch:

30 weeks
31 weeks 1 day

How I'm Feeling:

I've been okay.  I've had a lot of headaches, which is irritating since I can only take Tylenol, and it doesn't do anything.  A lot of heartburn, but Zantac has been like magic for that.  I definitely can't sleep anymore.  It won't be such a big deal after next week when I'm done working.  But for now I'm totally exhausted.

Buying for Baby:

My wonderful mother got us a ton of stuff, including a bassinet!  Which is now put together and on my side of the bed all ready to go.  She also got us sheets for it, some mattress pads for it, a whole bath time basket for Garrett, some a&d ointment, and a grooming kit thing.  You know, with the boogie sucker, thermometer, nail clippers, toothbrush, that kind of stuff.  I also knit up a few little things for my little dude.  He's got a hat to match his snow suit, some booties to match his cardigan, and I finished his Christmas stocking yesterday...now I'm working on new matching ones for Brett and I.  My super awesome mother-in-law, Kim, sent us the crib mattress and the crib itself it getting delivered tomorrow.  Yes, there'll be pictures of that once it's all put together.
